Who we are

We are a community group in the village of Cloughmills in County Antrim, Northern Ireland working to improve the social, economic and environmental quality of life in our local area.

In 1999 a small group of residents got together to help re-establish better community spirit within the village. Over the previous decade new housing developments had sprung up around the village with new people moving in at a time when changes in the local economy meant that more people were commuting elsewhere for work and shopping. Village life was becoming more disconnected. By organising social and community events we provided greater opportunities for people to connect with one another and build more social cohesion.

Officially formed as an unincorporated association the Cloughmills Community Action Team (CCAT) saw its role as helping to promote community development in Cloughmills but also encouraging more people to shop and eat locally and to improve the environment of the village and surrounding rural area - in short to make Cloughmills a more enjoyable and friendly place to live, work and play.
